Kadie Hernandez’s Story
I was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2011 when I was 22, I am 25 now.
The seizures started shortly after I had my first born. I was at work on break, and had a grand mal seizure (Tonic Clonic). Since then, I have had about 8 grand mal seizures at work.
We are still working on new medicines to control the seizures, but none are agreeing with me yet. I will continue fighting! It is hard and you feel like you are going crazy sometimes, and that you can’t do it anymore. You just really have to believe!
My most recent seizure was at an IHOP with my dad. I had a seizure out of nowhere. I hit my head and was sent by helicopter to Dallas because blood was seen on my brain. I survived and I will keep fighting. I have a 3 year old daughter that needs me.
To anyone that needs help; just reach out. If I would have gotten looked at earlier when I had the first signs, my case may not have been as bad as it is. Please spread the word and seriousness of epilepsy. This could happen to ANYONE at any time. It sure happened to me. It wasn’t long ago and I was normal before the seizures started.
