Pegi Johnson’s Story
I was born with epilepsy, but I wasn’t diagnosed until I was twenty.
I’m forty seven now. My parents didn’t notice how I’ll I was because I had petite mal seizures. Back then people thought the only kind of seizures were grand mal. My parents kept getting notes that I was “daydreaming ” in class.
But my story has a happy ending. Once diagnosed, I was put on medication and later had a Vegas nerve stimulator put in in 2002.
I’m now a registered certified pharmacy technician who has been seizure free for about five years. I drive and have obtained two other college degrees.
Though I haven’t obtained a job as a pharmacy technician, I’m still looking and am sure I will find work.
What I want people to take away from my story is that there is always hope. Medical research goes on and though it’s slow, it’s progressing. Thank you for listening to my story.
